Broad Oak Country Hotel

Broad Oak Country Hotel is centrally located on Hayling Island in the most rural area. We are just 5 minutes from the main seafront (which has again in 2003 won a Blue Flag Award for cleanliness) with its diverse attractions ranging from many fine shops, pubs, restaurants and entertainment for all ages to our unspoilt beaches and wild, natural sand dunes. Also, we are just 5 minutes from the A27/M27, the main south coastal road and the A3/A3M, the Portsmouth to London road.

Hayling Island, connected to the mainland by a road bridge, is located towards the south-east portion of Hampshire. Bordered on the west and east by two large natural harbours. To the east is Chichester Harbour, designated an SSSI, Site of Special Scientific Interest, with an abundance of native and migrating birds, rare plants and some really delightful channels leading to places such as Emsworth, Bosham and almost to Chichester itself. To the west the more commercial of the two, but still extremely rich in wildlife, is Langstone Harbour separating Hayling from Portsmouth. Watersports such as water skiing and windsurfing are permitted in Langstone Harbour and the there is a passenger ferry operating from the south-western tip of Hayling Island to Easney in Portsmouth. Hayling's seafront is almost 7 miles long and in many places is still natural with sand dunes, ample car parking and superb veiws of the Solent and Isle of Wight.

About us

Originally built in the 1880's as a family home and was then probably no more than a 2up 2down building. Over the years the house was extended considerably until the early 1980's when from a large family home it was converted into a retirement home. Then around 1987 Broad Oak was first used as an B&B/hotel and continued up to 1993 when we puchased the property.
Extending the property did not stop there. We have totally modernised the original and added a further five rooms, making each one fully en-suite with shower, vanity unit and toilet.
Set in almost 3 acres of wooded grounds, Broad Oak Hotel is ideal for those wishing to tour the south coast, whether it be Chichester, about 15 miles to the east, Winchester, about 20 miles to the north or Portsmouth & Southsea, 10 miles to the west.
There are single bedded, double bedded and twin bedded rooms. Also 2 family rooms, one with a double and single bed the other with a double and two single beds. All rooms are of a generous size, and in each we offer the usual refinements such as colour TV, radio clock alarm, hair dryer, towel sets, tea and coffee making facilities and what we hope is close to that home from home feel.
We have recently added Direct Dial Telephones to all rooms
